Department Overview:

Metallurgy is a domain of materials science and engineering that studies the physical and chemical behavior of metallic elements, their inter-metallic compounds, and their mixtures, which are known as alloys. Metallurgical engineers focus on the production of metals, metallic parts and the properties of those materials. Metallurgical engineers help make products stronger, more durable, lighter weight and more energy efficient, especially when utilizing recycled materials rather than ores.

Vision:
To  offer quality technical education In the field of  Metallurgical Engineering   with  orientation towards industry, entrepreneurship, higher education and to strive for  developing   professionally competent technicians meeting the needs of the global economy.

Missions:
  • M1: To develop students in the field of Metallurgical Engineering as highly motivated, skillful and qualified manpower for employment and higher learning
  • M2: To promote a conducive environment for all round development of students.
  • M3: To promote linkages with external agencies to meet changing needs of industry and society.
  • M4: To improve Laboratories

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs):
  • PEO1: Diploma professionals will be able to make a successful career in metallurgical industries or higher studies to meet the needs of future requirements.
  • PEO2: Diploma metallurgists will have technical and behavioral competencies through adequate exposure to industry.
  • PEO3: To impart technological knowledge and skills for solving real-time engineering problems.
  • PEO4: To develop human resources with capabilities of effective communication, moral values and social responsibilities.

Program Outcomes (POs):
  • PO1: Basic and Discipline specific knowledge: Apply knowledge of basic mathematics,  science and engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the  engineering problems.
  • PO2: Problem  analysis:  Identify  and  analyse  well-defined  engineering  problems  using  codified standard methods.
  • PO3: Design/ development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems  and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.
  • PO4: Engineering  Tools,  Experimentation  and  Testing:  Apply  modern  engineering   Tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.
  • PO5: Engineering  practices  for  society,  sustainability  and  environment:  Apply   appropriate technology in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical  practices.
  • PO6: Project Management: Use engineering management principles individually, as a team  member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about  well-defined engineering activities
  • PO7: Life-long learning: Ability to analyse individual needs and engage in updating in the  context of technological changes.

  • PSO1: To empower the students as technical manpower in the industry or as an entrepreneur for production so as to meet the professional requirements of the ever-growing demand for  metals and materials
