Department of Civil Engineering

Head of the Department: Er.Prakash Chandra Murmu

Designation Lecturer in Civil Stage-II in Civil Engineering
Contact No 9124314117
Department Overview:

“The Department of Civil Engineering is started in the year 2010 and is producing quality technical manpower needed by industry, R&D organizations, and academic institutions. The intake capacity of this department is 30. As Civil engineering is one of the oldest engineering disciplines because it deals with constructed environment including planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures, and facilities, such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, and water and sewage systems.”
“After the completion of 3 years of Diploma in Civil Engineering, a student can directly enter in an Industry of Private/Public sector or he/she can go for higher studies in the field of Civil Engineering or equivalent Engineering Courses. This program can create a Junior Engineer (JE) in Government sector who prepares a report about site conditions and progress and reports their findings to the lead civil engineer.”

Vision:
To import knowledge and excellence in civil Engineering with global perspectives to our students and to make them ethically strong engineers to build our nation.

Missions:
  • M1: To produce Civil Engineers of high calibre, technical skill and ethical values to serve the society and nation.
  • M2: To make the department a Centre of excellence in the field of Civil engineering.
  • M3: To provide knowledge base and consultancy services to the community in all areas of civil engineering.
  • M4: To promote innovative and original thinking in the civil engineers students to face the challenges of the future.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs):
  • PEO1: To train the students so that they can work and contribute to the infrastructure development projects being undertaken by Govt. and private or any other sector companies.
  • PEO2: To train students in such as a way that they can pursue higher studies so that they can contribute to the teaching profession/research and development of civil engineering and other allied fields.
  • PEO3: To train students in a manner that they should function effectively in the multicultural and multidisciplinary groups for the sustainable development and growth of civil engineering projects and profession.

Program Outcomes (POs):
  • PO1: Basic and Discipline specific Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and Civil engineering specialization to the solution of complex Civil engineering problems.
  • PO2: Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyse complex Civil engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • PO3: Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex Civil engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs as per IS Code specification for the Structural engineering, public health and safety, and the cultural, social, and environmental considerations.
  • PO4: Engineering Tools: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and planning & design software including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • PO5: Engineering Practices for Society: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in social and environmental contexts, apply ethical principles and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • PO6: Project management: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these as an individual, and as a leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
  • PO7: Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs):
  • PSO1: Apply engineering and laboratory skill for investigation, testing of material, planning, designing and analysis of structural elements.
  • PSO2: Prepare 2D and 3D model by using design and detailing software.
  • PSO3: Plan and solve the complex problem professionally for transportation, irrigation and public health engineering.
